This exhibition explores Contemporary art made in New Orleans by over twenty artists before the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. These artists, who were forced to evacuate their homes and studios, have been found in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Houston, Austin, Dallas, Nashville, Memphis, St. Louis, Gainsville, New York and numerous other locations. Many artists lost their studios and homes or an abundance of work. This exhibition will present the rich diversity of New Orleans through painting, sculpture, collage,  printmaking , assemblage, ceramics and glass. There are those artists who have chosen not to return to New Orleans and others waiting to return to help in rebuilding a new landscape. This work, made in New Orleans can now be viewed as an historical reference to the many influences on art by the fragile New Orleans landscape that has suddenly disappeared.
